| Setting out southeast from Passo Giau, we walk through an incredible scene of alpine meadows surrounded by towering cliffs. ("It's Heidi country!") It's Sunday, so congenial locals are out in force. So are the wildflowers, and the wild horses. We stop for lunch at Rifugio Croda di Lago for traditional alpine fare of polenta, cheese, and sausages, before hiking down to the road to be driven back to Passo Giau. | |
